Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions exist to keep The Joyful Creative a calm, fair and nourishing space for everyone - including the person running it. By booking a session or holding a membership, you agree to the following.

1. Membership Overview

Membership to The Joyful Creative provides access to Create & Connect sessions, member discounts on workshops and selected events and access to the private online community. Membership is designed to support regular creative practice and connection, rather than exclusive studio hire or storage.

2. Bookings & Attendance 

All Create & Connect sessions must be booked through the online booking system. Spaces are limited to 20 people max to maintain a relaxed, supportive environment.

To support fairness within the community, repeated no-shows or late cancellations may result in limited booking access.

3. Cancellations

If you’re unable to attend a session, please cancel your booking as early as possible to allow another member to attend. Late cancellations and no-shows impact the availability of sessions for others and the smooth running of the studio.

We trust members to act with care and consideration for the shared space and community.

4. Membership Payments

Membership fees are billed on a monthly recurring basis. Once a billing cycle has commenced, fees are non-refundable. Member discounts and benefits apply only while membership is active.

5. Membership Pauses

We understand that creativity (and life) moves in seasons.

  • Members may pause their membership up to two times per calendar year

  • Each pause may be between 2 and 6 weeks

  • A minimum of 7 days’ notice is required

  • Membership benefits are suspended during the pause period

  • Pauses cannot be backdated

This policy allows flexibility while supporting the sustainability of the studio.

6. Studio Use & Materials

Studio materials and tools are provided for use during Create & Connect sessions. All tools and excess materials are to remain in the studio. 

Members are welcome to bring their own projects and materials to work on. The care of materials brought in is responsibility of the member. 

Temporary storage of projects may be available by arrangement, subject to space and availability. The Joyful Creative cannot take responsibility for loss or damage to personal items left in the studio.

7. Wellbeing & Scope

The Joyful Creative offers creative wellbeing experiences and community-based creative practice. These sessions are not art therapy, counselling or mental health treatment.

Participation is voluntary and self-directed. Members are responsible for working within their own physical and emotional comfort levels.

8. Community Guidelines

The Joyful Creative is a safe, inclusive and non-judgemental space. Respectful behaviour towards others, the facilitator and the studio environment is expected at all times.

Discrimination, harassment or behaviour that negatively impacts the wellbeing of others will not be tolerated and may result in cancellation of membership or access without refund.

9. Health and Safety

Your wellbeing is important to us. Participants are asked to follow all guidance and safety instructions when using tools, equipment and materials. The Joyful Creative cannot accept responsibility for injury or damage arising from unsafe or incorrect use, or from not following instructions. By attending, participants acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with some creative activities.

10. Photography & Marketing

Occasionally, photographs may be taken during sessions for marketing or promotional purposes. Consent will always be sought before identifiable images are shared publicly

11. Changes to These Terms

These terms and conditions may be updated from time to time. Members will be notified of any significant changes.

Membership Agreement

By joining The Joyful Creative, you agree to the following:

  • I understand that my membership provides access to Create & Connect sessions, member discounts and an online community space, and is intended for regular creative practice rather than exclusive studio hire.

  • I agree to book sessions in advance and to cancel as early as possible if I can no longer attend, so spaces can be offered to others.

  • I understand that repeated no-shows or late cancellations may result in limited booking access to support fairness within the community.

  • I acknowledge that membership fees are billed on a monthly recurring basis and are non-refundable once a billing cycle has commenced.

  • I understand the membership pause policy:
    – Up to two pauses per calendar year
    – Each pause between 2–6 weeks
    – At least 7 days’ notice required
    – Membership benefits are suspended during a pause
    – Pauses cannot be backdated

  • I understand that studio materials are provided for use during sessions, and that personal items and projects remain my responsibility.

  • I acknowledge that The Joyful Creative offers creative wellbeing experiences, not art therapy or mental health treatment and that participation is voluntary and self-directed.

  • I agree to contribute to a safe, inclusive and non-judgemental environment and understand that behaviour impacting the wellbeing of others may result in cancellation of membership or access.

  • I understand that photos may occasionally be taken for marketing purposes and that consent will always be requested before identifiable images are shared.
